valentines_boxesHello and welcome to the first edition of valentines_boxes, which will be a multifandom gift giving event running from Jan 22 - Feb 29. This is low pressure and will be conducted in the same style as the awesome comms it was inspired by fandomstocking and fandomtrees. This is my first time ever running an event like this and I am excited.
To participate, sign up in the post below this one, using the form in this post. I will then make an entry for you in this community with your box. Then go around and fill others' boxes with their requests, by commenting to the posts I set up for them.
Boxes will all be set up when sign-ups end on Feb 10!
Schedule:
Sign-ups: Jan 22 - Feb 10
Gifting: Feb 10 - March 2* (*this may be delayed if there are people lacking any gifts by that time, as I want to ensure everyone gets at least 1/2 gifts).
Reveals: March 2

1. Please use the sign-up template provided. Please contain your sign up within the textareas, it makes it easier for the mod(s).
2. You are required to sign up with a minimum of three fandoms. To increase the chances of you getting a gift, we suggest you include an additional non-fandom request such as recipes, music recommendations, etc, but this not required
3. If you include your AO3 name in your sign-ups please double check that you have opted-in for receiving gifts on AO3, you can find this under your Preferences -> Collections, Challenges and Gifts
4. You can ask for original artwork or original fiction, and it would be considered one of your fandoms, we just ask that not all your requests be for original fanworks, because it may make it harder for you to receive gifts.
5. You may request holiday greetings if you like but the request will not count as one of your fandoms, and any fills will not count towards your gift total.
6. Please bookmark and track your posts so you can thank those who have so generously made you gifts
Comments/Fills:
1. To place a gift in a box, please comment on the post of the recipient. Comments will be screened until reveals.
2. Fills are required to be at least 100x100 pixels or 100 words, or equivalent, in a requested fandom and with requested characters, and avoiding all stated DNWs.
3. Do not offer a fill with a stated DNW. Such comments will not be revealed or unscreened.
4. No abusive or insulting comments
5. If fills are explicit please put a warning in the subject line, example: Jon/Martin, Explicit.
Reveals:
1. Please take the time to thank those who made you gifts, it doesn't have be effusive, just a small comment to let them know you saw and enjoyed your gifts. Also, please respond with a comment on your tree not just on AO3, even if the comment is just "I left you a comment over on AO3" this will help the mod(s) keep track of who has been thanked. Any participant who does not thank their gifters will be banned from signing up for next year's fest.
2. If you receive any gifts you feel are abusive or meet a DNW or are otherwise inappropriate, please contact the mod(s) immediately
Sign-ups and Fandoms:
What is a DNW?
A DNW stands for Do Not Want, and this is anything you would not like to receive as part of your gift. The sign up form will include an area for Medium DNWs, this is the type of gift, ex icons, vids, etc, and General DNWs, this is for content, ex major character death, cheating, etc.
What is considered graphics?:
For this event graphics is considered everything art related that is not icons, and may not be considered traditional art, like wallpapers, moodboards, picspams, gif sets, etc.
What about non-fannish things? Can I request things like recipes, book recommendations, etc?
Yes, you can. In the fandom slot just put the non-fandom thing you are requesting, and provide more information in the prompt area.
Should I post each subfandom as its own fandom, example the Star Trek novels, or leave it under the larger fandom umbrella?
This is under your discretion, large fandoms will be tagged under their umbrella fandom ex. Star Trek or Star Wars, however sub-fandoms will be listed on the master spreadsheet to help gifters find your tree
Is there a maximum number of fandoms I can request?
Yes, 25 fandoms is the maximum
Do I have to provide prompts that are Valentines themed?
No, your prompts do not have to include holiday themes, but they can be if you would like that
Can I request original fiction/art?
Yes, in the fandom slot put original fiction/art, put the character type, ex. lonely woman warrior, in the character/pairings slot, and expand upon what you would like in the prompts section. However, we advice against making every one of your requests original fiction, because it may make it harder for gifters to create a gift for you.

Can anyone make gifts/fills, or do they have be to signed up?
Anyone can make gifts and fills
Is there a way to search requests by fandom or medium?
All trees will tagged with requested fandoms, non-fandoms and mediums for easy searching
What's the minimum size?
100x100 pixels or 100 words for graphics and fiction, please use your best judgement when it comes to equivalent sizes for recipes, poetry, or other non-traditional fills.
Do gifts need to be Valentines themed?
No, the gifts can be about anything, as long as you respect the requester's DNWs, and take their likes into consideration
What about posting explicit fanworks?
Explicit fanworks are great, and many of our participants would love to receive them, as long as they respect the requester's DNWs. If you are concerned about who can view the fanworks, one option is to post it on AO3 and leave a link to your AO3 fill in the comments, if this is not possible please put a note in the subject line, example: Jon/Martin, Explicit

Does everybody get a gift?
The goal is for everyone to get at least ONE gift, and reveals will not happen until this goal is met.
